Job summary

Gold Star is seeking a Plant Manager to oversee production, delivery, maintenance, and customer service at our feed mill in New York. You will provide day-to-day leadership across operations to ensure safe, efficient, and quality feed production.

Responsibilities include production planning, staffing, safety, inventory control, and adherence to cGMPs and quality programs, while driving continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• College degree in Ag Business or Feed/Milling Science is preferred.
• 2-3 years of feed mill supervisory experience is preferred, with exposure to batch feed manufacturing, pelleting, grain processing, and truck/rail operations.
• High level of detail, multi-tasking, analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to create solutions.
• Positive, self-motivated, organized with strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Strong customer service commitment and teamwork to build a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all plant operations to ensure safe, efficient, timely, and quality-controlled feed production.
• Own plant production planning and execution, including scheduling, workflow, labor utilization, equipment availability, and coordination with transportation.
• Manage staffing and organizational structure, including staffing levels, scheduling, overtime, hiring and training.
• Manage labor to meet production requirements while controlling overtime and ensuring adherence to work-hour policies.
• Identify operational constraints and develop solutions to minimize impact on production and customer service.
• Maintain Safe Feed/Safe Food certification and compliance with cGMPs and quality programs.
• Manage inventories and investigate discrepancies, implementing corrective actions.
• Ensure quality-control procedures are followed and communicate findings to leadership.
• Own plant safety performance and enforce policies; address unsafe conditions and behaviors.
• Interview, select, onboard, train, and develop employees; ensure cross-training for continuity.
• Set performance expectations, provide feedback, and hold employees accountable for standards.
• Lead the plant team and develop supervisors to strengthen leadership and growth.
• Monitor operating costs and identify opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency.
• Communicate plant performance and risks to senior leadership and cross-functional partners.
• Take ownership of plant-level problems and drive solutions.
