Job summary

Pilgrim’s is seeking an Industrial Mechanic to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair feed mill equipment and facilities. You will work Monday–Friday, 2:00 pm–10:00 pm with on-call duties and weekend work as needed.

Duties include interpreting drawings, performing preventive maintenance, and coordinating with production teams. Qualified candidates have 1–2 years in industrial maintenance, basic mechanical skills, and familiarity with electrical and welding concepts.

• Reading, general math and writing skills required.
• Organized and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of standard and metric measurements.
• Minimum 1-2 years industrial maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of industrial manufacturing equipment.
• General welding/fabrication knowledge.
• General knowledge of low/high voltage electrical.
• Ability to work overtime including holidays, nights and weekends.
• Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in varied indoor/outdoor conditions with PPE.
• Ability to work in elevated areas and perform physical duties (lifting up to 50 lbs).

Primary Role: Industrial Mechanic

Mechanic will safely and efficiently perform troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and all tasks related to the maintenance of all feed mill equipment and facility. Typical tasks include troubleshooting and repairing components, testing, and working with production team members.

This position is responsible for repairing and maintaining all aspects of the feed mill facility. Scheduled to work Monday - Friday from 2:00 pm-10:00 pm, and weekends as needed. Responsible for on call duties as required and all found problems repaired before finishing shift.

Responsibilities/Duties

• Construct, maintain and test mechanical equipment, machinery and components
• Identify parts or machines needing new or replacement parts
• Utilize shop mathematics to complete assignments
• Interpret drawings of equipment in order to properly adjust, maintain or repair machinery
• Respond to requests by production area when mechanical issues with equipment have been identified
• Communicate with production management and personnel to diagnose problems and to determine potential mechanical problems
• Perform preventive maintenance
• Complete assigned tasks with accuracy and efficiency, in regards to time as well as resources
• Other duties as assigned
• Operate fork lifts, loaders, scissor lifts, and aerial lifts

Required Skills/Qualifications

• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Willing and able to stand for several hours.
• Ability to work in varied indoor/outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc. with use of PPE
• Ability to work in elevated areas
• Ability to perform physical job duties including bending, lifting up to 50 lbs., kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting, with or without reasonable accommodations

Preferred Knowledge/Skills

• General knowledge of boilers/steam systems
• General knowledge with programming technologies, such as programmable logic controllers (PLC) and variable frequency drives (VFD)
• Technical school preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
