Job summary

Bakery Feeds, by Darling Ingredients, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance in the plant under supervision. Work includes electrical and mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and installation.

The role requires the ability to read mill schematics, maintain equipment, and support safety programs. Night/weekend on-call may be required; travel to other plants is possible. This on-site position lives in a production facility environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years of pellet mill/feed mill equipment experience.
• Welding proficiency in MIG and Stick.

Responsibilities

• Performs all phases of maintenance for electrical and mechanical systems.
• Understands the mill flow and mill schematics.
• Maintains equipment in good working condition.
• Troubleshoots and repairs mill equipment and components.
• Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
• Assists on special fabrication and construction projects.
• Turns wrenches, replaces motors, rebuilds gear boxes, and performs piping work.
• Daily greasing and oiling of plant equipment as needed.
• Diagnoses and replaces equipment parts with minimal direction.
• Communicates effectively with operators and management.
• Adheres to safety rules and attends safety meetings; may serve on Safety Committee.

Job description

The Maintenance Technician position performs preventive and corrective maintenance in the plant under management supervision.

• Performs all phases of maintenance, including electrical and mechanical systems (i.e. fabricating, welding, troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and performing required preventative maintenance).
• Understands the mill flow and mill schematics.
• Maintains all equipment in good working condition.
• Able to perform routine services and troubleshoot and repair all mill equipment.
• Maintains clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times.
• Assists personnel on special fabrication and construction projects.
• Performs machine repair and installation such as replacing motors, rebuilding gear boxes, run threaded piping, run weld piping, replace belting, replace bearings, welds and uses cutting torch.
• Conducts daily greasing and oiling of plant equipment as needed.
• Diagnoses and replaces equipment parts with little or no direction.
• Communicates well with operators and management.
• Responsible for using assigned personal protective equipment and required safety equipment; responsible for being familiar with and observing all Company safety rules and regulations.
• Attends regularly scheduled safety meetings and may be asked to serve on Safety Committee.
• All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 2 years minimum experience with pellet mills/feed mill equipment.
• Welding proficiency in MIG and Stick.

Preferred Qualifications

• Vocational school training preferred.
• Experience involving/using CPM 7000 series.
• CMMS experience.
• Ability to diagnose and repair control circuits and VFD installation preferred.

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to push, pull, move or lift up to 100 lbs.
• Frequently required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch.
• Regularly required reach with hands and arms.
• May be asked to travel to other plants for construction projects.
• May need to work nights and weekends; available "on call" as needed.

Job functions will be carried out in a feed mill facility which requires tolerance for dusty environment and high heat or cold temperatures.
