The Federal Work-Study Student Assistant provides administrative, clerical, and customer service support to the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. This position assists faculty, staff, and students with daily office operations while gaining professional experience in a higher education environment.
- Provide general office support, including filing, copying, scanning, and organizing documents.
- Answer phones and direct calls to appropriate faculty or staff members.
- Greet visitors, students, and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assist with data entry, recordkeeping, and maintaining departmental databases.
- Prepare and distribute departmental correspondence, reports, and informational materials.
- Assist with scheduling meetings, appointments, and departmental events.
- Maintain office supplies inventory and notify staff when supplies need replenishing.
- Organize and maintain physical and electronic filing systems.
- Assist faculty and staff with special projects, research support, and departmental activities as assigned.
- Support student outreach, recruiting events, and departmental functions.
- Ensure confidentiality of student, faculty, and departmental records.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eligible for and participating in the Federal Work-Study Program.
- Enrolled as a student at the institution.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional demeanor and customer service orientation.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest in engineering, science, technology, or higher education administration.
- Previous office or customer service experience.
- Experience using office equipment and administrative software

Compensation
