Job summary

GovCIO seeks a UX/UI Subject Matter Expert to drive design across federal digital platforms from a fully remote location in the United States. The role requires hands-on UX/UI experience, strong research skills, and the ability to translate business processes into usable persona-driven designs.

Expertise with USWDS, accessibility standards, and ServiceNow is highly valued. The ideal candidate has 8+ years in UX/UI, excels in cross-functional collaboration, and can communicate effectively with

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Design, CS, or related field.
5–8 years IT experience; 4 years may substitute education.
Experience turning business processes into usable diagrams with personas.
Strong communication and leadership.
Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow.
Proficiency in design tools: Figma, Adobe XD, Axure, Sketch, Balsamiq.
Understanding of USWDS, HTML/CSS, front-end principles.
Experience with accessibility compliance and inclusive design.

Responsibilities

Drive UX strategy and design across federal digital platforms.
Conduct user research, usability testing, and stakeholder interviews.
Develop wireframes, prototypes, and user flows using tools like Figma/Adobe XD.
Ensure compliance with Section 508 and WCAG.
Collaborate with developers, PMs, and stakeholders to align design with requirements.
Provide expert guidance on UX best practices and human-centered design.
