Job summary

Astrion is seeking a Technical Writer to support the FAA SETIS contract within the Civilian Division. The role requires producing clear, compliant documentation and coordinating with subject matter experts in a fast-paced environment.

The position demands a BA/BS, 2+ years of experience, and the ability to pass a Public Trust security investigation. Proficiency with QuickSilver, InDesign, CQ5, and MS Office is essential. Local Washington, DC area preferred.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree required.
  • 2+ years of experience required.
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust/US Citizenship required for all applicants.
  • Must write in a wide variety of formats and voices.
  • Experience with QuickSilver for processing technical docs.
  • Experience with Adobe InDesign and CQ5 software.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with plain language is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review and revise documents to conform to style guidelines.
  • Edit and format materials for clarity and readability.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to produce drafts.
  • Prepare and revise reports, briefs, and other docs as needed.
  • Ensure grammatical correctness and editorial quality.
  • Maintain a listing of documents and revision schedules.
  • Write original content from various sources for different formats.
  • Support FAA with note-taking, research, and fact-checks.
