Job summary

Astrion is seeking a Technical Writer to support the FAA SETIS Contract in Washington, DC. This full-time role requires a BA/BS and 2+ years of experience, with US citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

You will edit and produce manuals, instructions, and technical orders, liaising with Subject Matter Experts. Proficiency with QuickSilver, CQ5, InDesign, and MS Office is expected, with strong collaboration and time-management under deadlines.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree required.
• 2+ years of experience required.
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust security investigation (US Citizenship required).
• Strong written and oral communication with diverse stakeholder groups.
• Proficient with MS Office; experience with InDesign a plus.
• Ability to write in multiple formats and voices for regulatory materials.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Reviews, revises documents to conform to style guidelines and industry practices.
• Edits and standardizes material prepared by FAA staff for clarity and readability.
• Meets with Subject Matter Experts to produce original drafts.
• Prepares, edits, or revises reports, correspondence, and briefings.
• Ensures grammatical correctness and uses editorial techniques.
• Maintains listings of technical documents, data, and revision schedules.
• Develops content in various formats and voices; pursues plain language where applicable.
• Tracks progress of projects and provides ad hoc support as needed.
• Collaborates with a small team of communications professionals.
