Description

Seeking qualified professionals to support Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Aviation Safety (AVS) programs through development of technical documentation, communications, and mission support activities translating complex aviation, operational, and regulatory information into clear, actionable products across the National Airspace System (NAS). This role supports high-impact aviation safety initiatives, modernization efforts, and emerging technologies shaping the future of the National Airspace System (NAS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, draft, revise, and edit technical documentation, including reports, guidance materials, manuals, and stakeholder-facing products
  • Translate complex aviation, operational, and regulatory information into clear, accessible content for Government, industry, and public audiences
  • Support development of technical communications and outreach materials related to aviation safety, NAS performance, and emerging technologies
  • Analyze and organize content to improve clarity, usability, and consistency across documentation and communication products, including 508-compliance and accessibility oriented technical communications
  • Collaborate with technical subject matter experts and multidisciplinary teams to developaccurate, high-quality documentation and communication products
  • Experience developing stakeholder-facing communications, executive briefings, or high-visibility outreach materials for technical or aviation programs
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex aviation, operational, or regulatory concepts into clear, audience-appropriate products for diverse stakeholder groups
  • Experience supporting communication strategies or outreach efforts for FAA, Government, or regulated technical programs
  • Experience producing or managing technical documentation or communications across multiple formats, audiences, or delivery channels
  • Experience working with FAA Headquarters and supporting cross-organizational collaboration and executive-level communications

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent withfiveyears of experience includingtwoyearsofexperience working with aviation regulatory documentation performing the above duties
  • U.S. Citizen or Green Card Permanent Resident (minimum3+ years of U.S. residency) and Public Trust approval
Senior Technical Writer /Editor
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree andfiveyears of experience performing the foregoing technical writing functions. At leasttwoyears of the individual’s foregoing total experience must have consisted of performing technical writing functions with respect to FAA aviation regulatory documentation or related disciplines
  • Bachelor’s degree may be waived withtenyears of experience in performing the above duties
  • U.S. Citizen or Green Card Permanent Resident (minimum3+ years of U.S. residency) and Public Trust approval
