Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Valid driver's license; REAL ID compliant.
• Must be at least 20 years old at application; referral up to 40th birthday.
• Pass pre-employment drug test and random drug testing.
• Subject to automatic credit check after qualifications.
• Must be able to carry and use a firearm and maintain proficiency.
• Top-Secret Clearance required and retained.
• Limited-term Schedule B appointment: 3 years and 120 days.
• Register with Selective Service System or be exempt (males born after 1959).

Responsibilities

• Protect facilities and venues secured for Secret Service protectees.
• Provide security for high-profile events and foreign missions.
• Travel to support presidential, vice presidential, and foreign heads of state missions.
• Enforce protective responsibilities under applicable laws.
• Maintain firearm proficiency as a condition of employment.
