Job summary

Gresham-Barlow School District is seeking a Federal Programs/Community Liaison (temporary) to support students and families through Newcomer, Multilingual Learners, McKinney-Vento, Title Programs, and Foster Care initiatives. The role includes translation/interpretation, data entry, and facilitating district/community referrals.

Strong communication, trauma-informed care, and cultural competency are essential; Spanish language ability is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years of post-secondary education (72 college quarter hours or more) preferred.
• Prior experience with school-age children and families is desirable.
• Criminal Justice fingerprint clearance, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogen training required.
• Access to a vehicle and Oregon Driver's License with insurance is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides language support by phone, Google Meets, or in-person to schedule meetings and remind parents of appointments.
• Translates written communications such as emails, notes, letters, newsletters, and basic forms.
• Interprets for information sessions and events organized by Gresham-Barlow Federal Programs or district office.
• Collects data and maintains records for federal programs and processes.
• Supports staff with gathering information from students, parents, and the community; interprets when necessary.
• Collaborates with administrators, counselors, social workers, nurses, and outside agencies to assist students and families.
• Promotes parental involvement and increases access to school and student engagement.
• Maintains flexible hours for evening meetings and events as needed.
