Salary Range 16 $27.42 to $37.58/hour
Salary Range 16 (To be paid at range 17 once bilingual proficiency is verified) $27.42 to $37.58/hour (Range 10: $28.24-$38.68)
POSITION SUMMARY: The purpose of the Federal Programs/Community Liaison is to support students and families served by Federal Programs including our Newcomer Program, Multilingual Learners, McKinney-Vento, Title Programs, and Foster Care, among others. The Community Liaison will assist families with accessing resources and support for district and community-based referrals, support student engagement, and provide district-level translation and interpretation services. This position will also support staff with data entry and preparation. Strong communication skills, trauma-informed care, and cultural competency are essential for this position. Spanish-speaking applicants are highly preferred. This is a grant-funded position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, Experience, Licensure, and Certification
- Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two years of post-secondary education (72 college quarter hours or more), an Associate's or higher degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred
- Prior job-related experience paid or volunteer with school-age children and families
- Licenses, Certifications, Binding, and/or Testing Required: Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogen training
- Access to a vehicle, Oregon Driver's License, and insurance
Knowledge of:
- Designated language (listening, speaking, reading, writing)
- Principles of child development and instructional processes
- Office practices and procedures
Skill In:
- Performing basic clerical functions, perform basic arithmetic calculations
- Operating standard office equipment (including the use of specific computer applications)
- The use of English in verbal and written form, use correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling
- Ability to gather sensitive and often complex information from students, parents, and professionals while maintaining privacy and confidentiality
- Ability to interact with people with varying levels of education and from diverse backgrounds-communication is professional, pleasant, and clear

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provides language support by phone, Google meets, or in-person to schedule meetings, remind parents of appointments, and support parent/staff two-way communication
- Translates written coummunication/s such as emails, notes, letters, newsletters, and basic forms
- Supports staff with gathering information from students, parents, and the community by interpreting when necessary
- Performs data collecting and recordkeeping for the purpose of documenting contacts, and assisting with federal program processes
- Interprets for information sessions and events organized by Gresham-Barlow Federal Programs or the district office
- Works with staff to ensure information, services, and support options are clearly understood by students and families
- Work with administrators, counselors, social workers, nurses, and outside agencies (as needed) to assist students and families
- Promote parental involvement, provide information and training to parents and increase parent access to school and student engagement
- Maintains flexible work hours in order to accommodate the needs of evening meetings and events, as necessary
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
- Participates in various meetings to share information and/or improve one's skills/knowledge
- Assists with the transportation needs of students as directed by federal program staff
- Other duties as assigned by the office of federal programs
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to:
- Sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods
- Talk and hear conversations in a potentially noisy environment
- Use precise control of fingers and hand movement, often in a repetitive motion such as keyboarding
- Reach for and handle objects
- Use close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Regularly focus on a computer screen
- Bending, stooping, kneeling and lifting, and/or moving up to 40 pounds may also be required on occasion

- Maintain regular and punctual attendance. In case of an absence site and/or district protocol for reporting absences is followed
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding any information relating to students, staff, and parents
