Job summary

Salas O’Brien is hiring a Federal Process Engineer to plan, develop, and execute process engineering tasks for industrial, energy, life sciences, and advanced technology projects supporting federal clients. The role operates with general supervision and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe and compliant engineering solutions.

Qualifications

• BS in Chemical/Process/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5–10 years of progressively responsible process engineering experience.
• Experience with federal clients or defense contractors.
• Professional Engineer license or equivalent certifications (PE, CCPSC, Six Sigma, PMP, CAP).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate production and industrial processes to improve safety, efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
• Develop PFDs and P&IDs, balances, and process narratives.
• Perform mass/energy balances and equipment sizing.
• Prepare equipment specifications and data sheets.
• Support hazard analyses and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with multiple engineering disciplines.
• Support planning, layout, and startup activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in client meetings.
