Salas O’Brien is seeking a Federal Process Engineer in Charlotte, NC to plan, develop, and execute process engineering tasks for federal projects across industrial, manufacturing, energy, and life sciences sectors. You will work independently with supervision to design, evaluate systems, improve processes, and deliver compliant, safe engineering solutions.

Qualifications

• BS degree required in chemical/ process engineering or related field.
• 5–10 years of process engineering experience.
• Experience with federal facilities or defense contracting.
• Credentialing (PE license, CCPSC, Six Sigma, PMP, or CAP).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate processes to improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
• Develop PFDs, P&IDs, and heat/mass balances.
• Perform mass/energy balances, hydraulics, and sizing.
• Prepare equipment specs and data sheets.
• Support hazard analyses and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate with multiple disciplines.
• Assist facility planning and startup activities.
• Participate in client meetings and reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers.
