Job summary

FSA Federal is seeking a Paralegal/Legal Assistant III to support the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The role involves reviewing case materials, preparing digests, and assisting attorneys in pretrial and discovery tasks.

Candidates should have a paralegal certificate or equivalent experience, strong research and writing skills, and the ability to work under pressure. U.S. citizenship and a long background investigation are required.

Qualifications

• Paralegal certificate required, or high school diploma with 3+ years paralegal experience
• One year of automated litigation support experience
• Knowledge of forfeiture law and trial procedures preferred
• Strong legal research and writing ability

Responsibilities

• Assists attorney in reviewing case material to prepare a digest with legal references
• Receives, examines, and evaluates new and complex cases against standards
• Assists in determining probable cause by reviewing reports and evidence
• Investigates facts and laws using public records and databases for case prep
• Assists in discovery, interviewing witnesses, and organizing summaries
• Prepares pleadings, motions, papers, and proposed orders; manages files
