ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, seeks a Senior Federal Network Systems Engineer in Reston, VA to deliver advanced operational support for Azure Core Networking in government cloud environments. You will manage incident response, troubleshooting, and reliability for critical networking infrastructure across secure federal facilities.

The role requires on-site work, DoD/ CJIS clearances, and collaboration with Tier 1 teams.

Qualifications

• Must be a US citizen currently residing in the United States.
• Active DoD Secret and CJIS background check.
• Active US Passport Booklet.
• On-site work daily; no telework.
• 3–4+ years of experience in network operations or technical support.
• Knowledge of enterprise networking architectures (BGP, OSPF, secure VPN).
• Hands-on experience with Azure networking services (ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway, Virtual WAN).
• Experience with network monitoring and diagnostics (SPAN sessions, packet capture).
• Ability to operate autonomously in a 24x7 environment as a senior escalation point.
• Strong documentation and runbook creation.

Responsibilities

• Triage, investigate, and resolve moderate incidents in federal environments.
• Use SPAN/packet capture tools for traffic analysis and issue identification.
• Support WAN-related incident troubleshooting with internal teams and providers.
• Assist deployment and onboarding of ExpressRoute infrastructure; basic troubleshooting.
• Validate network configurations before production and escalate as needed.
• Support PulseVPN implementations and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Conduct initial root cause analysis and document findings.
• Assist with decommissioning activities per procedures and compliance.
• Provide guidance to Tier 1/1.5 engineers; maintain runbooks and knowledge base.
• Coordinate with external providers for incident updates and onboarding.
