Job summary

NeighborWorks America is seeking a Director of Legislative Affairs to lead congressional engagement and external stakeholder strategies. You will serve as primary liaison to congressional offices, coordinate cross‑divisional engagement, and advise senior leadership on policy developments shaping the network.

Strong relationship management and communication skills are essential in this high‑visibility role. Reporting to the Vice President of Legislative Affairs, the role oversees outreach

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum eight years in legislative affairs, public policy, or government relations.
  • Direct Capitol Hill experience or high-level federal engagement preferred.
  • Experience designing high-profile external engagement programs is a plus.
  • Strong strategic thinking and political acumen, with executive-level communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute legislative engagement strategies for congressional offices and committees.
  • Advise senior leadership on legislative developments and political dynamics affecting the org.
  • Coordinate cross-divisional engagement strategies and stakeholder education programs.
  • Manage relationships with affiliate CEOs to broaden bipartisan engagement and impact.
