Job summary

GAP Solutions Inc. seeks a Junior Human Resource Specialist to support DHS ICE OHC HROC, covering staff, payroll, benefits, recruitment, and policy guidance. This federal role involves handling HR topics across the full range of duties.

You will process payroll actions, create and organize folders, research waiver requests, scan records, draft SOPs, and provide HR guidance to applicants and staff, while delivering broad admin support to managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required OR 3 years federal HR experience as equivalent.
• Knowledge of Health and Human Services Guidelines for federal drug testing and valid driver’s license when tasks include drug testing.
• U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident residing in the United States or its territories; must have resided in the US for 3+ years in the last 5 years.
• Delegated Examining Certification and/or HRM Certificate preferred.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Advanced presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a group or individually.
• Advanced organization and leadership skills.
• Understanding of industry best practices.
• Exceptional time management skills.
• Knowledge of NFC, eOPF, WebTA, SharePoint, Oracle, JavaScript, SQL, and related IT systems.

Responsibilities

• Process personnel and payroll actions, key payroll documents, and leave audits.
• Create vacancy, retirement, and payroll folders.
• Research waiver and hearing requests.
• Scan documents into personnel record systems.
• Assist with drafting SOPs.
• Process pay-related tasks and FERCCA cases.
• Initiate tentative selection notifications and results letters.
• Provide HR guidance to applicants and staff and maintain employee files.
• Provide wide-ranging admin support: manage calendars, screen calls, arrange travel, coordinate meetings, and route mail.
