Job summary

Giving Tree is seeking an Estimator to evaluate opportunities, perform detailed takeoffs, and craft accurate, competitive pricing for federal projects across diverse locations.

You will research scopes, contact subcontractors, and manage multiple estimates with deadlines, taking ownership from initial review to bid submission.

Expect a fast-paced role requiring resilience, strong communication, and a team-oriented approach to win bids and drive cost-saving opportunities.

Qualifications

• Ability to manage multiple projects, quotes, contacts, and deadlines without missing details.
• Excellent phone communication and relationship-building with vendors and subcontractors.
• Willingness to research unfamiliar scopes, markets, and locations and negotiate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Review federal solicitations, scopes of work, specifications, plans, and drawings.
• Break projects into labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, transportation, and logistics.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop detailed project estimates.
• Source and contact subcontractors, suppliers, trucking companies, and equipment providers.
• Spend significant time on the phone obtaining pricing and understanding how work will be performed.
• Request, compare, and negotiate vendor and subcontractor quotes.
• Push back on pricing when necessary and look for better alternatives.
• Take ownership of opportunities from initial review through bid submission.
