Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a skilled federal cost estimator to support government projects in the United States. You will prepare detailed, discipline-specific estimates using MCACES II, RSMeans, PACES, and Success Estimator, ensuring compliance with FAR, CAS, and agency guidelines.

You will analyze contractor proposals, develop cost models, and collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contracting officers to maintain alignment between scope and cost.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Familiar with federal estimating processes (FAR/CAS).
• Experience with large federal construction cost programs is a plus.
• 5+ years of federal estimating experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed, discipline-specific cost estimates using industry-standard tools.
• Analyze cost proposals, bids, and change orders for FAR/DFARS compliance.
• Develop and maintain cost models, pricing databases, and historical data.
• Collaborate with PMs, COS, engineers, and contracting officers to align cost estimates with project scope.
• Support value engineering with cost-saving analyses.
• Prepare narratives and documentation for government reviews and IGEs.
