Job summary

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee daily construction activities at active federal and military project sites.
• Support or lead field operations to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements.
• Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, field personnel, equipment, material deliveries, and site access.
• Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work, schedules, and other project documents.
• Conduct daily site observations and monitor workmanship for compliance with project plans, specifications, codes, and quality standards.
• Enforce company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and project-specific safety procedures.
• Participate in preparatory meetings, progress meetings, inspections, and coordination meetings.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, photographs, manpower records, delivery logs, and other required project documentation.
• Identify field conflicts, changing conditions, and schedule risks and promptly communicate them to the project manager.
• Coordinate inspections, testing, punch-list activities, and project closeout requirements.
• Maintain professional communication with government representatives, facility personnel, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
• Support multiple regional projects or short-duration assignments as company needs require.

Federal Construction Field Superintendent Location: Columbia, South Carolina Metro Area

Primary Project Sites: Fort Jackson, Shaw Air Force Base, and McEntire Joint National Guard Base

Travel: Regional travel required based on project awards

Achuti LLC, an award-winning design-build and construction firm serving federal and military clients, is seeking a Federal Construction Field Superintendent to support projects throughout South Carolina and the surrounding region.

We are open to candidates across a broad range of experience levels—from individuals seeking to advance into construction field supervision to experienced superintendents with 10 or more years of project leadership experience. The position's title, responsibilities, compensation, and level of authority may be tailored to the selected candidate's experience, technical knowledge, and leadership capabilities.

The successful candidate will be based in the Columbia, South Carolina, metropolitan area and primarily support projects at Fort Jackson, Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, and McEntire Joint National Guard Base. Regional travel to other project locations, such as Charlotte and surrounding markets, will be required as Achuti receives additional project awards.

This position will report to Achuti's South Carolina-based Senior Project Managers and work closely with project managers, subcontractors, government representatives, and other members of the project team.

Qualifications

Achuti will consider candidates with varying levels of experience. Minimum and preferred qualifications include:

• Construction, manufacturing, industrial, facilities-maintenance, or other relevant field-based industry experience is required.
• Previous federal or military construction experience is strongly preferred but not required.
• Experience may range from entry-level candidates with relevant industry exposure and leadership potential to seasoned superintendents with 10 or more years of field-management experience.
• Working knowledge of construction methods, materials, job-site safety, quality control, and scheduling is preferred.
• Ability to read construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and technical documents.
• Strong communication, organization, follow-through, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors, priorities, and deadlines in an active construction environment.
• Willingness and ability to travel to regional project sites as required.
• Ability to satisfy federal installation access, background-screening, and identification requirements.
• Valid NC REAL ID driver's license and reliable transportation are required.

Relevant credentials— including OSHA training, USACE Construction Quality Management (QCM) certification, First Aid/CPR, or other construction certifications—are preferred. Achuti may provide training and professional-development opportunities based on the selected candidate's needs.
