Federal College Work Study-Student (Recs- Healthy U)

Job Summary: Responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of marketing strategies that support the growth of departmental programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of the Associate Director, assist in the development and implementation of marketing strategies that support the growth of departmental programs, including developing and implementing messaging and timelines for all marketing and event efforts while ensuring that departmental and University branding guidelines are utilized.
  • Perform general office duties including but not limited to answering telephones, typing, filing, photocopying, and assisting customers.
  • Assist with coordinating, setting up, and running Healthy U events.
  • Assist with implementation of web technologies to streamline processes to include departmental website and social media sites.
  • Assist in identifying the appropriate social media channels to expand Healthy U program awareness and tailor campaigns to the appropriate target audience.
  • Track performance of various social media initiatives and develop/implement changes to improve goals and objectives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintain required certifications/licenses as terms of employment.
Minimum Requirements
  • Enrolled at least half-time: 6 credit hours per semester for undergraduate and 3 credit hours per semester for graduate students.
  • Maintain a TAMIU overall GPA of 2.0 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students.
  • Must have a current and complete file with the Office of Financial Aid.
  • Demonstrate financial need by submitting a FAFSA application annually.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or have an alien registration number, or be an eligible non‑citizen.
  • Must meet all other requirements as stated in TAMIU’s Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAPP).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and video editing software.
  • Knowledge of University policies as well as Recreational Sports guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe and positive environment for all participants.
  • Effective public speaking skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of content management systems and design software.
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
Other Requirements
  • Position requires on‑campus, face‑to‑face interactions.
  • Must maintain a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace. Work schedules are created by the department based on departmental needs but must not conflict with class schedule.
  • Promptly complete all required trainings.
  • Submit time sheet biweekly.
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required.
  • Subject to funding and/or need.
Pay Rate

$8.00/hour for up to 19 hours weekly.
