POSITION - PRINCIPAL CIVIL ENGINEER (SME) - FEDERAL PROJECTS

LOCATION - USA REMOTE (domestic travel up to 35%)

Role description:

Arcadis is looking to hire a Principal Civil Engineer Federal SME (Subject Matter Expert) to support the Places Design & Engineering group. The ideal candidate will be a Senior Civil Engineer with extensive experience in facility design for United States Federal Agencies.

In this role, you will work directly with other Civil Engineers, Engineers of other disciplines, Project Managers, clients, etc. on Federal Agency facility design projects. You will lead the civil discipline of multiple concurrent projects through the pursuit, proposal, design, and construction phases.

This is a remote role but will require 35% domestic travel to service Federal clients and their projects.

  • DOE, U.S. Department of Energy
  • DHS, U.S. Department of Homeland Security
  • FBI, Federal Bureau of Investigation
  • DOS, U.S. Department of State

Role accountabilities:

  • Contribute technically to projects in areas where qualified in support of work prepared by the respective disciplines.
  • Lead design teams and mentor junior staff to develop construction-ready design packages of drawings and specifications with inter-discipline coordination.
  • Manage clients through all phases of the relationship.
  • Develop budgets, proposals, schedules, project plans and staffing plans, and identify, qualify, and pursue potential clients and project opportunities. The ideal candidate would be well-networked with the American Federal Government Agencies.
  • Fluency in design and modeling software that includes: Civil 3D, Autodesk Construction Cloud, AutoCAD, SpecsIntact (must have).
  • Travel to project sites for engineering site surveys, visits, and client meetings.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • U.S. citizenship is required for this position as part of federal employment eligibility requirements.
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in civil engineering with at least 10 to 15 years of experience in consulting engineering and performing facility design.
  • Extensive experience producing IFC design packages for federal agency facilities.
  • Professional Engineering Licensure in the United States. Multiple state licenses are preferred.
  • Strong communication skills related to presentations, project communications, and written documents.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $94,944 - $161,405. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
