Job summary

The United States Attorneys' Offices in Boston seeks an Assistant United States Attorney for the Asset Recovery Unit to pursue asset recovery, forfeiture, and bankruptcy matters in criminal and civil cases. This position is based in Boston, MA, with potential assignments to other units as needed. You will file pleadings, appear in U.S.

District Court and U.S. Bankruptcy Court, manage a large caseload, and provide prompt legal advice to agencies.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and active bar membership in good standing (any U.S. jurisdiction)
• At least 3 years post‑J.D. legal or relevant experience
• Significant experience in debt collection or bankruptcy law preferred
• Strong writing and oral advocacy skills required

Responsibilities

• Recover assets to pay restitution and fines in criminal cases
• Identify and freeze proceeds of crimes and other assets domestically and internationally
• Handle civil and criminal forfeiture matters and related bankruptcy matters
• Manage large caseloads and file pleadings in U.S. District Court and U.S. Bankruptcy Court
• Provide prompt legal advice to agencies and represent the United States in related matters
