Job summary

The Transportation Security Administration is seeking Federal Air Marshals to protect passenger flights and border the aviation system. Duties include discreet in-flight work, threat assessment, firearms proficiency, and collaboration with multiple agencies to counter threats.

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, 21+, able to obtain Top Secret clearance, and pass background, medical, and polygraph exams. Training is provided; assignments may vary and travel is frequent.

Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible experience demonstrating problem-solving, planning, organization and written/verbal communication.
• A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or
• A qualifying combination of post-secondary education and relevant experience

Responsibilities

• Protect commercial passenger flights from terrorist activity, aircraft piracy and other threats.
• Work discreetly aboard domestic and international flights.
• Assess developing situations and respond to threats with limited backup.
• Carry a firearm and maintain firearms proficiency required for federal duties.
• Conduct law enforcement, investigative, analytical, and advisory activities.
• Identify witnesses or suspects when required.
• Participate in multi-agency operations with federal, state, and local partners.
• Support ground-based transportation-security and counterterrorism missions.
• Perform other specialized assignments including counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems operations.
