Job summary

GSA is seeking an Accountant to perform complex accounting and financial management functions across a federal agency. The role supports cash management, accounts receivable, and accounts payable; there are several vacancies and potential future openings.

The position involves coordinating policy changes, developing reporting formats, and maintaining relationships with OCFO and program offices to provide reliable financial information to executives and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Requires accounting degree or related field with 24 semester hours in accounting.
• Includes knowledge of accounting and auditing concepts.
• Experience interpreting finance-related reports is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Review financial and/or management reports and render advice to officials.
• Develop or revise reporting formats and create SGL posting models.
• Analyze SGL accounts for proper accounting treatment and accuracy.
• Coordinate resolution of accounting issues due to changes in legislation and standards.
• Create reports for senior management and respond to congressional and agency inquiries.
