Meta is offering a Structural Design Engineering Intern role in Reality Labs, Seattle, to join a cross-disciplinary team. You will develop finite element models, analyze AR/VR designs, and support material characterization under mentorship from a senior structural engineer.

The internship emphasizes solid mechanics foundations, exposure to FEA, and strong communication. Expect a 12+ week full-time program with hands-on project work and collaboration across design and reliability teams.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Applied Mechanics.
• Solid mechanics, strength of materials, and FEA knowledge.
• Experience with FEA software such as HyperMesh, SimLab, Abaqus, ANSYS.

Responsibilities

• Own a scoped structural analysis project end-to-end from problem definition to readout.
• Build module-level finite element models to assess risk of failure modes.
• Perform first-principles hand calculations to sanity-check simulations.
• Support correlation and validation of FE models against test data.
