Job summary

1st FP Companies, LLC is seeking a Fire Extinguisher/Suppression Technician for the San Antonio office to inspect, service, maintain, repair, and install portable and fixed fire extinguishing equipment. The role demands strong attention to safety and the ability to work in a physically active environment.

You will perform routine and complex maintenance on fire suppression equipment, recharge extinguishers, test hydrostatics, inspect kitchens, and install systems in new or renovated facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to communicate with co-workers and customers is required.
• Ability to perform routine to moderately complex inspections, service and repair of fire extinguishing equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and complex maintenance and repairs on fire suppression equipment including extinguishers and kitchen suppression systems.
• Recharge and perform 6-year service, hydrostatic testing and parts replacement on portable extinguishers.
• Inspect and repair kitchen suppression systems and fire hoses.
• Recharge extinguishers using appropriate materials and test for compliance.
• Install fire extinguishers and suppression systems in new or renovated facilities.
• Monitor inventory and request supplies and equipment as needed.
• Tag extinguishing equipment to certify inspection and operational status.

Position Summary

We are looking for a Fire Extinguisher/Suppression Technician for the San Antonio office to inspect, service, maintain, repair, and install portable and fixed fire extinguishing equipment, etc. This role requires strong attention to safety and the ability to work in a physically active environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Performs routine and complex maintenance and repairs on various fire suppression equipment, e.g., fire extinguishers, kitchen suppression systems, fire hoses, etc.
• Perform service on portable fire extinguishers when needed, such as recharge, 6-year service, hydrostatic testing cylinders, and replacing parts.
• Inspects and repairs kitchen suppression systems.
• Cleans and recharges extinguishers with materials such as patented solutions.
• Tests fire extinguishers: Inspects, repairs, and/or replaces fire hoses.
• Inspects extinguishers for compliance with legal specifications using hand tools and performing hydrostatic tests.
• Install fire extinguishers in new or renovated facilities.
• Install fires suppression systems in new or renovated facilities.
• Monitors inventory and initiates requests for supplies, materials, and equipment.
• Tags fire extinguishing equipment to certify equipment has been properly inspected and operational.
• Responsible for the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Conforms to safety standards as prescribed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED certificate.
• Fire Extinguisher License preferred but not required. (FEL)
• Requires the ability to communicate with co-workers and customers as needed.
• Requires the ability to perform routine to moderately complex inspections, service, and repair of fire extinguishing equipment.
• Requires the ability to interpret, apply, and explain applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
• Requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
• Ability to work on ladders or in tight spaces.
• Valid driver’s license.
