POSITION SUMMARY

The FDOT Survey Project Manager will provide overall management and direction for FDOT projects. Responsibilities include customer interface, client development, project scoping, scheduling, procurement, cost and progress monitoring, management, and reporting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Coordinates the survey data coming in from crews in the field, and data being relayed from the office to crews in the field.
  • Continue to develop more productive FDOT Software drafting processes and standards within the survey department.
  • Utilizes Florida Department of Transportation and company standards and follows instruction per direction from Management.
  • Provides basic training and guidance to FDOT Survey and Mapping staff.
  • Performs quality control on deliverables and provides continuous improvement input.
  • Manages the coordination of project drawing and model files, file properties and symbology per FDOT and company standards.
  • Supports technicians in every aspect of the project delivery process to Project Managers.
  • Supports and troubleshoots questions and concerns of all users in both a group and one-on-one environment.
  • Provides ideas that support the company’s FDOT capabilities, processes, and standards.
  • Serves as a mentor to office staff and FDOT technicians.
  • Trains technicians on FDOT and company mapping standards.
  • Plans, prioritizes and organizes effectively; and the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all staff and clients.
  • Organizes, multi‑tasks, prioritizes and re‑prioritizes daily workload and works with minimum supervision and the ability to meet deadlines, establish deadlines, and to prioritize deadlines.
  • Collects, organizes, disseminates, and analyzes significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • May perform light office duties including but not limited to filing, making copies, and scanning.
  • May carry out other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 10 years of managing FDOT projects.
  • Experience with MicroStation, Geopak, and Open Roads software platforms with FDOT.
  • Must be proficient in MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D.
  • Experience in utilizing Deltek VantagePoint or similar application for coordinating multiple disciplines (preferred).
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite and other business software.
  • Previous experience providing training, seminars, and support to others.
  • Available to work necessary hours to meet assigned deadlines.
SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
  • Ability to make a common-sense understanding to carry out provided instructions.
  • Ability to deal with and understand problems involving different variables in many varied situations.
  • Ability to read field notes, analyze field data, and interpret and translate raw field data for office processing.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts (measurements in terms of distance, proportions, percentages, and area.)
  • Works with integrity and ethically; supports organization’s culture, goals, and values.
  • Ability to speak effectively to clients, vendors and coworkers up through all levels of management and staff.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, or listen.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This will be a high-volume fast, fast‑paced work environment managing documents. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
