Job summary

Kentucky State University is seeking an Area Agent for Family and Consumer Sciences to deliver research-based programming across Boyd, Carter, Elliott, Greenup, and Rowan Counties. The role funds educational outreach, engages communities, and aligns with extension priorities.

The agent will travel to sites, partner with local organizations, and develop resources to improve families’ well‑being. Requires a bachelor’s degree; master’s preferred, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences or related field is required.
• Master’s degree in FCS or related field is preferred.
• Experience in Extension, community education, family and consumer sciences, human services, education, community development, or related area is preferred.
• Experience developing, delivering, or evaluating educational programs is preferred.
• Experience working with diverse populations and community-based organizations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate research-based FCS educational programs for multiple counties.
• Deliver programs through face-to-face classes, workshops, presentations, and digital formats.
• Assess community needs to guide responsive Extension programming.
• Build advisory groups and partnerships to support programming.
• Disseminate educational materials, newsletters, and digital content to the public.
• Maintain records and report on program participation and outcomes.
• Represent Extension at events and collaborate with stakeholders.
