Job summary

Dept of Family & Protectve Svc in Amarillo, TX seeks a CPS FBSS Worker I to protect children and support families through in-home services and collaborative community engagement. This role involves rapid crisis response, treatment planning, and risk management within a state agency setting.

New hires with a Master’s Degree may qualify for an increase at the point of hire, with regular day shifts and statewide travel as part of duties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher required; or Associate's degree plus 2 years relevant work experience; or 60 accredited credit hours plus 2 years; or 90 credits plus 1 year.
• Initial screening outlines degree/credit combinations and relevant social services experience.
• Must have a valid Texas driver's license and reliable motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Responds quickly in crisis situations.
• Provides time limited in-home services to meet the specific needs of families by identifying insufficient protective capacities, developing treatment plans, and using resources to minimize risk and ensure child safety.
• Assesses child safety and takes actions to protect the child, including potential removal from the family if necessary.
• Interacts objectively with caregivers who have abused/neglected children in their care.
• Develops and maintains effective working relationships with law enforcement, judicial officials, medical professionals, and other community resources.
