Job summary

The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is seeking a Family Based Safety Services Worker I in Wichita Falls to help families access services, develop safety plans, and connect with community resources to protect children at home. Newly hired employees with a Master's in Social Work may qualify for an increase at hire.

The role requires travel, crisis responsiveness, and active collaboration with law enforcement and social services, with career development through the DFPS

Qualifications

• Must hold a degree or progress toward degree with relevant social/human services experience.
• Willingness to travel up to 60% and work after hours as needed.
• Ability to work in emotionally charged and crisis situations.

Responsibilities

• Responds quickly in crisis situations.
• Provides time-limited in-home services and develops treatment plans.
• Assesses child safety and takes actions to protect the child.
• Identifies resources and community supports for families.
• Helps parents recognize behaviors related to abuse/neglect and enact changes.
• Maintains documentation and completes forms accurately.
• Works flexible hours beyond 8a.m.–5p.m., Mon–Fri.
• Develops relationships with law enforcement, judicial, medical, and community resources.
• Attends trainings, meetings and staffings.
