The Georgia Department of Human Services in Atlanta is seeking a Fatherhood Outreach Specialist 3 to join the Division of Child Support Services. Under supervision, you will establish and enforce child support obligations and coordinate with legal and public organizations.

The role requires strong communication, ability to manage caseloads, and may include supervision of other staff. DHS offers a robust benefits package and telework opportunities depending on the position.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional critical thinking, good judgement and decision-making abilities to monitor and manage a caseload.
  • Excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working with state, local, or federal government is preferred.

The DHS’ Division of Child Support Services (DCSS) is seeking candidates to fill the position of Fatherhood Outreach Specialist 3, this position will report to the Fatherhood Supervisor. This position is located in Atlanta, GA (Fulton County).

Under broad supervision, establishes and enforces child support obligations of responsible parents. Coordinates child support activities with legal, judicial, and public organizations. Conducts administrative hearings. May serve as lead worker.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Establishes child support obligations and ensures that such obligations are met.
  • Coordinates child support activities with legal, judicial and public organizations and conducts administrative hearings.
  • Communicates with clients and other constituents via telephone, email correspondence and direct contact to ensure that support obligations are met.
  • Manages a caseload to ensure that child support obligations are met.
  • Supervises other case managers or serves as a team leader, as required.
  • Performs other professional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Core Competencies
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills, good judgement and decision-making abilities to monitor and manage a caseload to ensure that child support obligations are met.
  • Ability to use customer service skills to include active listening and negotiation ability.
  • Excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and/or standard.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications
  • Experience working with state, local, or federal government.
  • Work experience involving mentoring and coaching.
  • Ability to work independently -and-.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of relevant experience (such as human services or legal services case management work experience).
  • High School diploma or GED and three (3) years relevant experience (such as human services or legal services case management work experience).
  • Two (2) years’ experience at the lower-level Child Support Services Agent 2 (SST061) or position equivalent.

Minimum Qualifications
