Job summary

Hayes Automotive Group is seeking an experienced Used Car Reconditioning Technician to join our service team in Lawrenceville, GA. You will inspect, repair, and prep high volumes of pre-owned vehicles to meet dealership standards and frontline-ready timelines.

The role emphasizes speed, quality, and clear communication with the Used Car Department, Recon Manager, Parts, and Service teams. Tools, reliability, and Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram experience are valued.

Qualifications

• Previous automotive technician experience preferred.
• Used-car reconditioning experience is a major plus.
• Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills.
• Ability to inspect a vehicle and identify needed repairs without unnecessary over-repair.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good communication with management and parts personnel.
• Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Must have your own basic technician tools.
• Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram experience is a plus, but we work on all makes and models.
• Reynolds & Reynolds experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete mechanical inspections on incoming used vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, suspension, brake, steering, HVAC, and drivability concerns.
• Perform maintenance and repairs needed to bring vehicles to dealership standards.
• Complete oil changes, brakes, tires, batteries, tune-ups, fluid services, and other maintenance items.
• Handle more advanced mechanical repairs based on experience and skill level.
• Identify safety concerns and necessary repairs quickly and accurately.
• Clearly document recommended repairs and inspection findings.
• Work closely with the Used Car Department, Recon Manager, Parts Department, and Service Management.
• Help prioritize vehicles based on dealership needs and days in recon.
• Complete approved work efficiently so vehicles can be photographed, priced, and placed on the frontline.
• Perform quality-control checks before vehicles leave the recon process.
• Keep your work area, tools, and equipment clean and organized.
• Follow dealership and manufacturer safety procedures.
