Job summary

Kansas City Live! is seeking a Cook to support daily kitchen operations in a fast-paced environment. You will prepare and cook orders, monitor inventory, and maintain sanitary standards to ensure quality service.

The role may require nights, weekends, and holidays, with opportunities to work across shifts and collaborate with other staff. The position emphasizes accurate recipe execution, portion control, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year experience cooking on a fast paced kitchen line and food preparation experience.
• Culinary certified training preferred.
• Must demonstrate basic knowledge of cooking, following recipes, portion control, and presentation.
• Communication skills are used to interact with cooks, wait staff and supervisors.
• Reading and writing abilities used when preparing meals from a recipe, scheduling kitchen staff, or monitoring inventory.
• Mathematical skills include basic math, percentages, quantities, and variances.
• Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local/state agency.
• May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.

Responsibilities

• Control food usage to minimize waste.
• Prepare and cook orders for daily operations in a timely manner.
• Advise supervisor of low inventory items; assist in receiving items and taking inventory.
• Restock items as needed through the shift.
• Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards per Health Board and company requirements.
• Keep a clean, neat, and organized work area, including reach-ins and counters.
• Report unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
• May assist with ware washing or other kitchen duties as needed.
• Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication with other departments.
