911 Emergency Communications in Vestavia is seeking Emergency Medical Dispatchers to handle urgent medical calls, verify locations, and assign priority within approved protocols. Responsibilities include collecting incident data, communicating with responders, and ensuring documentation and quality review of calls, while meeting screening and certification

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent commonly required.
• CPR certification may be required.
• Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) certification may be required depending on vacancy.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls involving illness, injury, and other medical emergencies.
• Confirm the patient’s location, callback number, and access details.
• Ask approved questions about the patient’s condition.
• Determine response priority through the authorized medical dispatch system.
• Dispatch or coordinate ambulance resources when included in the assignment.
• Provide protocol-based instructions within current qualifications.
• Relay patient information and scene hazards to responding personnel.
• Document call processing and participate in quality-review activities.
