Job summary

Responsibilities

• Operate tractors and farm machinery to plow, harrow, fertilize, and harvest crops.
• Manage irrigation equipment and maintain farm infrastructure.
• Build soil with composting and maintain grounds and landscaping.
• Direct and monitor casual and seasonal workers during planting/harvesting.
• Maintain inventory and order materials as required.
• Repair farm buildings, fences, and farm vehicles and equipment.

Job description

Manage agricultural and land stewardship practices; operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops such as alfalfa, proso millet; Maintain inventory, ordering materials as required; Build soil through composting; Direct and monitor the work of casual and seasonal help during planting and harvesting; Build agricultural structures; Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures as well as farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; Set up, repair, maintain, and operate irrigation equipment; Clean work areas, and maintain grounds and landscaping. Must speak and understand English.

• Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)
• Meals: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities, all of which are in working order, including refrigeration, space for food preparation, cooking accessories and utensils, appliances, and dishwashing facilities so that workers may prepare their own meals. Kitchen facilities include adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure. Employer will provide transportation once a week to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries, when the employer is providing cooking and kitchen facilities.

• Experience wanted: 3 months
• Three (3) months recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Must be able to obtain appropriate drivers license following hire and obtain clean driving record. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a drug test at no cost to the worker and be subject to the employers drug free and alcohol free workplace policy including testing protocols. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
