Job summary

H2ajobs is seeking a livestock handler to care for cattle on a Texas farm. Duties include feeding, watering, herding, branding, and loading livestock, as well as maintaining animal records and monitoring health. You may move cattle between fields or facilities and assist with facilities maintenance.

Candidate should be able to work in extreme conditions, lift up to 50 lbs, and communicate in English. Housing and meals are provided by the employer, with weekly transportation to stores when

Responsibilities

• Feed, water, herd, graze, castrate, brand, catch, and load cattle as directed.
• Maintain records of animals and monitor health and injuries.
• Move livestock between locations using trucks or carts.
• Inspect and maintain animal housing and fencing.
• Provide mineral supplements and monitor water tanks.
• Follow safety procedures and wear protective equipment.

Job description

Attend to live farm, ranch animals that include cattle; Duties include feeding, watering, herding, grazing, castrating, branding, catching, and loading animals; Maintain records on animals; Examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; Administer medications, vaccinations, or insecticides as appropriate; Move livestock from one location to another manually or using trucks or carts; Clean and maintain animal housing areas; Inspect, maintain, prepare, and repair livestock facilities, pens, yards; Provide mineral to cattle grazing wheat pasture; Monitor water stock tanks for proper function and ice during hard freezes. Must speak and understand English.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities, all of which are in working order, including refrigeration, space for food preparation, cooking accessories and utensils, appliances, and dishwashing facilities so that workers may prepare their own meals. Kitchen facilities include adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure. Employer will provide transportation once a week to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries, when the employer is providing cooking and kitchen facilities.

Be able to work in extreme conditions such as heat, humidity, wind, cold. Lift and carry supplies. Follow instructions. Once hired, worker may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment. Must be able to obtain appropriate drivers license within 30 days following hire and obtain clean driving record to be able to operate company vehicle. Lift up to 50 lbs.
