Job summary

H2ajobs in Oklahoma seeks a livestock handler to care for cattle and other farm animals. Duties include feeding, watering, herding, grazing, castrating, branding, catching, and loading animals; maintain records; examine animals for disease or injury; administer medications and vaccines; clean and maintain housing and facilities; assist births and calf handling; mix feed and move equipment.

Housing and meals are provided through the employer, with transportation access to stores when cooking

Responsibilities

• Feed and water livestock, herd and move animals as needed.
• Maintain records on animals and inspect for disease or injuries.
• Administer medications, vaccines, or insecticides as appropriate.
• Clean and maintain animal housing, pens, fences, and facilities.
• Assist with births, loading calves, and handling livestock transport.
• Move equipment and livestock using trucks or carts; operate tractors as required.

Job description

Attend to live farm, ranch animals that may include cattle; Duties include feeding, watering, herding, grazing, castrating, branding, catching, and loading animals; Maintain records on animals; Examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; Administer medications, vaccinations, or insecticides as appropriate; Clean and maintain animal housing areas; Inspect, maintain, prepare, and repair livestock facilities, buildings, pens, yards, and fences; Break ice in watering facilities; Assist in birth deliveries; Mix feed; Prepare and ship calves; Move equipment or livestock from one location to another manually or using trucks or carts; Drive trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals.

Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)

Meals: Employer will furnish free and convenient cooking and kitchen facilities, all of which are in working order, including refrigeration, space for food preparation, cooking accessories and utensils, appliances, and dishwashing facilities so that workers may prepare their own meals. Kitchen facilities include adequate sinks with hot and cold water under pressure. Employer will provide transportation once a week to assure workers access to stores where they can purchase groceries, when the employer is providing cooking and kitchen facilities.

Be able to work in extreme conditions such as heat, humidity, wind, cold. Lift and carry supplies. Follow instructions. Once hired, worker may be required to take a random drug test at no cost to the worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment. Must be able to obtain appropriate drivers license within 30 days following hire and obtain clean driving record to be able to operate company vehicle. Lift up to 50 lbs.
