Department: Farm Operations Reports To: Warehouse Manager
Pay Range: $16.50-18 per hour non-exempt (overtime eligible)
Hours: 3-6 shifts per week, 8-10 hours per shift, Seasonal April-November, Annual Full Time Eligible after Seasonal Evaluation
Primary Job Function:
The Warehouse Associate executes general warehouse tasks, including but not limited to physical inventory, packing and grading fruit, and market allocations for all retail/CSA and wholesale products.
- Prepares orders by processing requests and supply orders; pulling products, packing boxes and CSA shares; and assembling pallets of product for outgoing sales.
- Maintain product inventory volume and quality knowledge to relay to the sales team (CSA and Retail Manager, and Office Manager).
- Maintain quality service by following organization standards, responsible for greeting and attending to wholesale clients and CSA members.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, cooler and workstations neat; maintain clean shipping supply area; complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
- Pack, grade, and sort necessary fruit for markets and wholesale orders.
- Maintains seconds fruit rotation with like-things-together organization so the kitchen has accessibility of necessary products and unusable products are composted.
- Implements good food safety standards at all times.
- Light janitorial work, including taking trash and recycling to the local dump weekly, sorting for maximum sustainability when possible.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
Position Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent with 1 year or more of applicable experience OR any appropriate combination of the above
- Strong computer skills, with working knowledge of the primary MS Office and Google docs.
- Prior experience in or knowledge of farming, warehouse, or agriculture industries.
- Ability to successfully pass a background check and other pre-employment screening.
- Must be fluent in English - work related Spanish a plus.
- Valid VA Driver's License.
Physical Requirements
- Able to tolerate extreme temperatures for extended periods of time and adapt to an outdoor environment,or work in a walk-in cooler.
- Able to lift & carry items up 50 lbs. and to repetitively lift & carry items up 30 lbs.
- Good physical dexterity and visual acuity, with an ability to identify crops, damage and spoilage.
- Able to stand, sit, bend, kneel, stretch and squat for long periods of time.
- Able to use hands, arms and fingers to move materials, and operate tools and equipment.
