Job summary

Agriberry is seeking a Warehouse Associate for seasonal work from April through November. The role includes packing, grading and preparing fruit for CSA/retail and wholesale orders, plus inventory maintenance and customer service for wholesale clients and CSA members.

Hours are 8-10 per shift, 3-6 shifts weekly, with overtime eligibility and potential annual full-time eligibility after seasonal evaluation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 1+ year of applicable experience.
  • Strong computer skills with MS Office and Google Docs.
  • Prior farming, warehouse, or agriculture experience preferred.
  • Able to pass a background check and pre-employment screening.
  • Fluency in English; Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare orders by processing requests and supply orders, pulling products, packing boxes and CSA shares, and assembling pallets for outgoing sales.
  • Maintain product inventory knowledge to relay to the sales team.
  • Greet and attend to wholesale clients and CSA members to ensure quality service.
  • Keep shelves, pallet area, cooler and workstations clean and safe; maintain shipping supply area.
  • Pack, grade, and sort fruit for markets and wholesale orders.
  • Rotate fruit to ensure accessibility and compost unusable products.
  • Implement food safety standards at all times.
  • Light janitorial duties including weekly trash and recycling disposal.
  • Contribute to team effort by completing related tasks as needed.

Department: Farm Operations Reports To: Warehouse Manager

Pay Range: $16.50-18 per hour non-exempt (overtime eligible)

Hours: 3-6 shifts per week, 8-10 hours per shift, Seasonal April-November, Annual Full Time Eligible after Seasonal Evaluation

Primary Job Function:

The Warehouse Associate executes general warehouse tasks, including but not limited to physical inventory, packing and grading fruit, and market allocations for all retail/CSA and wholesale products.

  • Prepares orders by processing requests and supply orders; pulling products, packing boxes and CSA shares; and assembling pallets of product for outgoing sales.
  • Maintain product inventory volume and quality knowledge to relay to the sales team (CSA and Retail Manager, and Office Manager).
  • Maintain quality service by following organization standards, responsible for greeting and attending to wholesale clients and CSA members.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, cooler and workstations neat; maintain clean shipping supply area; complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Pack, grade, and sort necessary fruit for markets and wholesale orders.
  • Maintains seconds fruit rotation with like-things-together organization so the kitchen has accessibility of necessary products and unusable products are composted.
  • Implements good food safety standards at all times.
  • Light janitorial work, including taking trash and recycling to the local dump weekly, sorting for maximum sustainability when possible.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
Position Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent with 1 year or more of applicable experience OR any appropriate combination of the above
  • Strong computer skills, with working knowledge of the primary MS Office and Google docs.
  • Prior experience in or knowledge of farming, warehouse, or agriculture industries.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check and other pre-employment screening.
  • Must be fluent in English - work related Spanish a plus.
  • Valid VA Driver's License.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to tolerate extreme temperatures for extended periods of time and adapt to an outdoor environment,or work in a walk-in cooler.
  • Able to lift & carry items up 50 lbs. and to repetitively lift & carry items up 30 lbs.
  • Good physical dexterity and visual acuity, with an ability to identify crops, damage and spoilage.
  • Able to stand, sit, bend, kneel, stretch and squat for long periods of time.
  • Able to use hands, arms and fingers to move materials, and operate tools and equipment.
