Job summary

H2ajobs seeks hardworking farm workers for a sod cultivation operation in Florida. Duties include planting, irrigating, mowing, fertilizing, and harvesting sod using hand tools and tractor-based equipment. Employees will load materials, maintain irrigation systems, and assist with pest control across extensive acreage.

• Set up, operate, maintain and repair irrigation systems; clean work areas and grounds.
• Load rolled sod and tools into trucks; operate tractors and related machinery.
• Inform farmers or farm managers of crop progress; repair and maintain farm vehicles and equipment.
• Assist with pest control on 800 acres and other farm worker duties as needed.

Job description

Duties may include: Plant, spray, weed, fertilize, water, and harvest sod using hand tools. Haul and spread topsoil, fertilizer, and other materials to condition soil, using wheelbarrows or carts and shovels. Set up, operate, maintain and repair irrigation system Clean work areas, and maintain grounds and landscaping. Load rolled up sod and tools into trucks. Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to cultivate, mow and harvest sod. Inform farmers or farm managers of crop progress. Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment. Workers may assist with pest control on 800 acres sod farm & other related Farm Worker activities as per SOC/OES 45-2092 (onetonline.org).

Possible weekend/holiday work.

• Housing: Employer-provided (including mobile or range)
• Meals: The employer will furnish cooking facilities, utilities, and utensils for workers to prepare their own meals in the housing provided kitchen. Included basic appliances will consist of, but is not limited to, refrigerator, stove/oven, and sink with hot and cold-water connections.All appliances included will be in good, working condition for the workers. Employer will provide transportation to grocery store at least once a week for workers who wish to shop for food.
• Transport: The employer will provide or pay for charter bus services or other modes of transportation to H-2A or U.S. workers, or permit workers to select any means of transportation they choose and reimburse workers at no less than the most economical and reasonable common carrier transportation charges for the distances involved in traveling (a) to the place of employment from the place from which the worker has come to work for the employer (i.e., inbound) and (b) from the pl... Must be 18 years of age. Worker has 3 days from date of hire to show proof of legal authorization to work in the United States. Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone.
