Job summary

U.S. National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC seeks a Farm Hand Supervisor to lead a small team and oversee daily care of chickens, sheep, goats, Highland cows and other farm animals.

This on-site, full-time hourly position focuses on feeding, housing, and animal well-being while supporting the center’s operations. The ideal candidate has prior livestock experience or a strong interest in animal care, works well in a team, and can perform physically demanding tasks outdoors under varying

Qualifications

• Previous farm or livestock experience is preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Genuine interest in animals and their care.
• Physically capable of performing manual labor for extended periods.
• Ability to move haystacks and other heavy items solo.
• Ability to work outdoors for sustained periods of time under varying weather conditions.
• Adhere to all Whitewater Center procedures and protocols.

Responsibilities

• Provide fresh food and water for the animals
• Maintain the animals’ living areas to ensure a clean and comfortable environment
• Observe and report any changes in the animal’s behavior or health to the supervisor
• Assist in safely handling and moving the animals as needed
• Maintain and repair trailers, fencing or corrals as needed
• Lead a small team of farm hands to provide the upmost care for the farm animals at Whitewater
• Other duties as assigned
