This hands-on leadership role oversees farm staff, greenhouse production, livestock, equipment, and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of farming or agricultural operations experience, strong leadership, excellent organization and problem-solving skills, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of professional experience in farm management, agricultural operations, landscaping, construction, or related field.
  • Proven team leadership and staff management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of greenhouse operations, irrigation, livestock care, and farm maintenance.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience operating farm equipment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise farm staff and daily operations.

  • Manage farm equipment, supplies, inventory, and maintenance.
  • Plan and oversee construction and infrastructure projects, including barns, fencing, irrigation, and drainage.

  • Maintain farm and livestock records.
  • Partner with ownership on operational improvements and long-term growth.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable agricultural and safety regulations.

Job description

An expanding private farm in Washington, CT is seeking an experienced Farm Operations Manager to lead day-to-day operations and support the continued growth of the property.

This is a hands-on leadership position overseeing farm operations, staff, greenhouse production, livestock, property maintenance, equipment, and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise farm staff and daily operations
  • Oversee greenhouse production, irrigation, livestock, landscaping, and property maintenance
  • Manage farm equipment, supplies, inventory, and maintenance
  • Plan and oversee construction and infrastructure projects, including barns, fencing, irrigation, and drainage

  • Maintain farm and livestock records
  • Partner with ownership on operational improvements and long-term growth

Requirements

Compensation

$150,000-$180,000 annually, with some flexibility depending on experience and qualifications, plus:

  • PTO
  • 401(k) with employer contribution
  • Additional benefits based on tenure and performance
