Job summary

Farm Maintenance Engineer Position
Job Description

This position includes monitoring,enhancing, fixing, and replacing all things that are electrical and mechanical.This position may also include aiding in the operation of, and maintaining thefeed mill that produces feed for our two million hens and our pellet milloperation that produces fertilizer from our hens’ manure. Job duties mayinclude but are not limited to:

  • Maintain and repair automatedequipment in chicken barns such as egg conveyor belts, egg collection systems,manure belts, and feed and water lines.
  • Ensuring operation of feed andwater lines in the layer hen barn, ensuring hens have proper water and feedlevels
  • Performand document preventative maintenance on this equipment
  • Operation and maintenance of our onsite feed mill orfertilizer mill
  • Operation and maintenance of corn dryer tanks that drythe corn that we grow
  • Operation of heavy machinery, assisting with themovement of equipment around the farm
  • Maintain a clean environment in all areas
  • Supervisingand coordinating the personnel who perform daily work in the barns; includingremoving daily mortality from the barn, collecting mislaid eggs, ensuringproper function and cleanliness of egg collection and manure belt systems
  • Checkingproper feed and water levels and operation of feed and water automatedsystem.Recognition when levels are notadequate for the animals and ability to troubleshoot the automatic feed andwater systems, including basic computer skills
  • Ensurecleanliness of the house, the ability to recognize and maintain a clean andhealthy environment for the birds.
  • Recognizewhen the environment is appropriate for the hens and ability to operate andtroubleshoot environmental control computers including basic computer skills
  • Ensure theflock is healthy and continuously looking for and properly attending to sick or injuredbirds, as well as mortality.
  • Examine birdsto find illness or injury and may be responsible for treating minor injuriesand ailments as well as contacting the company veterinarian and/or manager fortreatment for birds with serious illnesses or injuries, aid in the treatment ofbirds as necessary.
  • Supervisingand coordinating work crews that perform movement of birds from one barn toanother
  • Aid andadminister vaccinations and medications to birds.

  • Mexican, U.S. or Canadian Citizenship
  • Valid Passport
  • Housing: Single room in shared house with other TNprofessionals. Cost $5/day
  • Transportation provided to and from work
  • Other benefits: 55hours vacation and 40 hours sick, Holidays – Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Year,4th of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day. Health and dental insuranceare available. 401k available after 1 year of employment. Holidays may varybased on seasonal nature of job. After hours or weekend availability may berequired.
  • Initial flight to relocate to thearea will be paid for.
