University of California, Davis is seeking a Farm Laborer to perform skilled and unskilled agricultural tasks around Foundation Plant Services (FPS), including irrigating, weeding, sowing seeds, pest control, transplanting, tractor operation, plant maintenance, pruning, harvesting, and grapevine collection. The position is on-site in Davis, CA, with a 100% time commitment.

Salary ranges from $26.54/hr to $31.71/hr, with bi-weekly pay, and full UC benefits.

Qualifications

• Valid California driver\'s license or enrollment in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.
• Experience performing general agricultural work.
• Knowledge of harvesting.
• Ability to collect grapevine and other plant material to department specifications.

Job Summary

Under supervision, perform skilled and unskilled agricultural tasks in and around Foundation Plant Services, its fields and facilities, including irrigating, weeding, sowing seeds, pest control, transplanting, tractor operation, plant maintenance including pruning and training field crops, harvesting, and grapevine and other plant collection.

Qualifications

• Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
• No minimum education required
• Experience performing general agricultural work.
• Knowledge of harvesting.
• Skill and ability to collect grapevine and other plant material to department specifications.
• Knowledge to prune field crops.
• Skills to follow oral and written instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Skills to drive light vehicles, operate tractors and operate hand tools.
• Knowledge of FPS fields and facilities.

Department Overview

Foundation Plant Services is a self-supporting unit in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at UC Davis whose primary function is to produce, maintain, and distribute virus-tested plant materials of deciduous fruit and nut trees, grapevines, strawberries, sweet potatoes, and roses for research and public commercial use. FPS manages 300+ acres of fields in and around Davis.
