Job summary

CCMC in Summerville, SC is seeking a dedicated Farm Director to lead our agrihood farm program. You will manage the farm crew, oversee vegetable, fruit, and herb production, maintain infrastructure, and ensure food safety standards while engaging residents with tours and workshops.

This role emphasizes leadership, outdoor work in varied weather, and a passion for local, sustainable agriculture. You'll partner with HOA for events, supervise CSA logistics, and mentor staff, with a focus on

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years organic vegetable production and farm management experience.
  • Proven experience independently operating a tractor.
  • Enthusiasm for local and sustainable agriculture.
  • A problem solver, willing to learn and open to feedback.
  • High degree of customer service and effective communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and efficiency.
  • Knowledge of retail technology and CSA logistics platform.
  • Carpentry skills and familiarity with basic tools.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Managing farm crew and all aspects of vegetable, fruit and herb production.
  • Maintaining farm infrastructure and landscape with support from vendors.
  • Certifying product and food safety standards are met.
  • Managing on-site CSA pick-ups.
  • Educating residents and guests about agrihood farming through workshops and tours.
  • Ensuring general store, barn, gardens and surrounding areas are well maintained.
  • Leading gardening workshops and farm-to-table events.
  • Assisting HOA team with events and workshops as needed.

What You'll Accomplish
  • Managing farm crew and all aspects of vegetable, fruit and herb production
  • Maintaining farm infrastructure and landscape with support from contracted vendors
  • Certifying that all product and food safety standards are being met
  • Managing on-site CSA pick-ups
  • Educating residents and guests about agrihood farming by leading workshops / presentations and providing tours
  • Ensuring general store, barn, gardens and surrounding areas are well maintained
  • Leading gardening related workshops and farm to table events
  • Assisting HOA team with events and workshops as needed
What We're Looking For
  • At least 2 years organic vegetable production and farm management experience
  • Proven experience independently operating a tractor
  • Enthusiasm for local and sustainable agriculture
  • A problem solver, willing to learn and open to feedback
  • High degree of customer service and effective communication skills
  • Attention to detail and efficiency
  • Knowledge of retail technology and CSA logistics platform
  • Carpentry skills, general "fix it" know how, and familiarity with basic tools
  • Able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, stand for extended periods of time and move up to 50 pounds
  • Self-motivated with an eagerness to learn new tasks
  • Bilingual English / Spanish preferred
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check

If driving is, or becomes, a requirement of the role, it is required, at all times, that you hold a valid state driver's license for the class of vehicle you are driving, maintain a clean motor vehicle report, and hold current automobile insurance at statutory limits. You must notify Human Resources immediately regarding any change to your motor vehicle standing. CCMC may periodically review motor vehicle reports to ensure compliance with these requirements.
