Job summary

Hampshire County Council in Alton is seeking a Family Time Supervisor to support and supervise child contact sessions, ensuring safety and accurate documentation. The role involves providing transport where needed and upholding safeguarding standards in collaboration with social workers and foster carers.

You will document contacts within strict timescales, develop professional reports, and participate in meetings and training.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children and families in need, with strong understanding of child development and safeguarding practices.
• Excellent IT, verbal communication, listening and observation skills; ability to build effective relationships with children, carers and professionals.
• Capacity to handle challenging situations, remain professional and non-judgemental and work flexibly.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and facilitate contact sessions in various settings, ensuring child safety, providing transport, and intervening if contact becomes unsafe.
• Manage challenging situations, including stopping contact when it is not in the child’s best interest, while maintaining a child-focused approach.
• Prepare for and document contacts accurately within agreed timescales, adhering to legal and policy requirements.
• Build effective relationships with parents, social workers, foster carers, and children, while demonstrating safeguarding awareness and reporting concerns promptly.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team, attending meetings, training, and complying with all relevant guidelines, legislation, and Hampshire County Council policies.
