Job summary

Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota is seeking a Family Therapist to work with at-risk youth and their families in Sioux Falls. The role emphasizes Functional Family Therapy (FFT) to strengthen communication, reduce conflict, and foster healthy home environments.

The ideal candidate holds a Masters in Counseling, Social Work, or related field and may include Master’s Level Interns in their final internships. A valid driver’s license and passing background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related Human Services field.
• Will accept applications from Master’s Level Interns in their final Internships.
• Must be at least 21 years old and able to complete orientation training per agency standards.
• Requires active auto-insurance and a valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one.
• Must complete agency background checks including crimes and behavior concerns.

Responsibilities

• Provide Functional Family Therapy (FFT) services to at-risk youth and their families.

• Help youth recognize harmful thinking patterns and develop coping strategies.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide Functional Family Therapy (FFT) services to at-risk youth and their families. Strengthen family communication, reduce conflict, and promote healthy, supportive home environment. Help youth recognize harmful thinking patterns and improving decision-making skills and developing positive coping strategies. Supports emotional well-being, trauma recovery, and behavior change through evidence-based therapeutic practices. LSS will provide training in the evidence-based model and program-specific requirement. Participate in required training, supervision, and ongoing professional development activities. Complete assessments, treatment planning, case documentation, and other required records in a timely and accurate manner.

QUALIFICATIONS: Masters Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related Human Services field. Will accept applications from Master’s Level Interns in their final Internships.

• Must be at least 21 years old and able to complete orientation training according to agency program standards.
• Requires active auto-insurance, a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one with approved driver status.
• Must successfully complete all agency background checks, which include checks for criminal convictions, behavior harmful towards children, spousal abuse, and drug or sex crimes.
