Job summary

Firefly Children & Family Alliance in Fort Wayne, Indiana seeks a part-time Family Support Specialist to guide and document family visitation, coordinate services, and support youth and families.

You will work evenings, travel with clients, attend court when needed, and collaborate with agencies to help families achieve their goals. A High School diploma or GED is required and driving is essential; prior human services experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and coach family visits and document progress.
  • Oversee visits between children and parents in offices or community settings.
  • Prepare reports and communicate with service providers and court systems.
  • Provide transportation for youth and families as needed.
  • Attend required meetings and support goal development and service planning.

Firefly Children & Family Alliance is currently seeking a part-time Family Support Specialist in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In this role, you will work to provide guidance, direction and documentation of visitation for the families you will serve. You will be exposed to the Department of Children Services and the court system on occasion. You must be comfortable working evening shifts, with a minimum commitment of four nights per week, and be willing and able to transport clients of all ages using their personal vehicle.

You Will
  • Family Progress - Monitoring and Coaching (70%)
    • Complete all required documentation
    • Oversee visits between children and their parents in our visitation offices or community
    • Help schedule visits
    • Coach collaboratively – maintaining a balance between teaching and serving
    • Provide education and support to youth/families
    • Assist youth/families in achieving their goals
    • Attend all required meetings
    • It is understood that each employee follows and follows the professional standards as outlined by your perspective professional degree, license or agency policy
    • Perform any other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor
    • Communicate with multiple institutions related to youth/family matters
    • Provide transportation to youth/families
    • Attend court with clients and render recommendations
  • Service Plans / Goal Development (15%)
    • Create goals for each family
    • Review goals when needed
    • Work with other social welfare agencies
  • Reporting (15%)
    • Maintain case and agency paperwork according to standards
    • Prepare written reports for the Department of Child Services / Probation office within identified time frames
You Have
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Some experience in a Human Services field preferred
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have a valid driver's license and auto insurance with 6 or less points on driving record.
