Job summary

The Virginia Department of Social Services seeks a Family Services Specialist II to develop and implement individualized service plans for families and individuals, applying casework methods across program areas. Roles include interviewing, assessing needs, and coordinating services with other agencies; after-hours on-call coverage is required.

This position requires a bachelor's degree in a human services field (BSW/MSW desirable) and may involve sensitive investigations in child welfare,

Qualifications

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or minimum of two years related experience in a Human Services area.
Possession of a BSW or MSW degree and a Commonwealth of Virginia Social Worker license is desirable.
Experience in CPS, Adoption, or related program areas preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement individualized service plans for families and individuals.
Enter documentation, forms and reports into state systems per guidelines.
Provide case management and coordinate services with other agencies and teams.
Interview and assess client needs and other factors such as education, skills, abilities and supports.
Serve as a resource and stay current with trends in social work.
