Job summary

Virginia Department of Social Services seeks a Family Services Specialist II to develop individualized service plans, coordinate supportive services, and monitor client progress within the child and adult welfare programs.

The role involves interviewing, assessing needs, advising clients on program rules, and coordinating with multiple agencies. On-call duty and driving within the region are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a Human Services field or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Considerable experience in assigned program area and completion of required training programs.
• Possession of a BSW or MSW degree and Virginia Social Worker license desirable.

Responsibilities

• Engage families and individuals in development of service plans and offer interventions to preserve the family unit and maximize self-sufficiency.
• Make recommendations to court; ensure all documentation and reports are entered in state systems in compliance with requirements.
• Interview and assess customer needs, inform clients of program rules, and develop and implement service plans.
• Provide case management services, monitor compliance, track expenditures, and coordinate with other agencies.
• Provide after-hours on-call coverage and respond to emergencies in protective services and foster care.
